This tour offers a rare chance to visit a family-run coffee farm, meet passionate local farmers, and gain firsthand knowledge of the coffee-making process from bean to cup—all while enjoying some of the finest coffee on Earth.
Your adventure doesn’t end with coffee. You'll also hike to the breathtaking Materuni Waterfalls, passing through scenic coffee plantations and experiencing the daily life of the Chagga community along the way. These waterfalls are among the most beautiful in the Kilimanjaro region, and if the weather permits, you can even cool off with a refreshing swim in the natural pool beneath the falls.
Morning: Departure & Coffee Farm Experience
Pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or the surrounding area.
Drive to Materuni Village, located at the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Upon arrival, meet your local Chagga guide and receive a warm welcome.
Visit a family-run coffee farm and learn about the traditional methods of cultivating, harvesting, and processing Arabica coffee.
Participate in a hands-on coffee-making demonstration—from bean picking, roasting, grinding, to brewing your own cup of fresh local coffee.
Enjoy stories about the history of coffee farming in the region and the role it plays in the Chagga community’s daily life.
Midday: Hike to Materuni Waterfalls
Begin a guided hike through lush coffee plantations and scenic landscapes.
Learn about local plants, farming practices, and Chagga traditions along the trail.
Reach the stunning Materuni Waterfalls, one of Kilimanjaro’s most picturesque natural attractions.
Relax, take photos, and—if weather allows—take a refreshing swim in the natural pool beneath the falls.
Afternoon: Return Journey
After enjoying the waterfalls, hike back to the village.
Optional: enjoy a traditional Chagga lunch (if included).
Return drive to Moshi town.
