The 10-Day Northern Circuit Route with Crater Camp is one of the most breathtaking and comprehensive Kilimanjaro adventures. Beginning at Lemosho Gate, this trail takes you through lush montane forests before gradually ascending into alpine desert and the high arctic zone. Your first night at Mti Mkubwa Camp sets the tone for an extraordinary journey that winds around the mountain’s northern slopes—renowned for their pristine wilderness, scenic variety, and unmatched tranquility.
As the longest and most scenic route on Mount Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience all sides of Africa’s highest peak. The extended duration allows excellent acclimatization, significantly increasing your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters) successfully. Trekkers are rewarded with sweeping panoramas across Tanzania and Kenya, all while enjoying the rare solitude of one of the mountain’s least-traveled trails.
A defining highlight of this expedition is the overnight stay at Crater Camp (5,790 meters)—a truly unique experience on Kilimanjaro. Nestled just beneath the summit, this camp allows climbers to explore the magnificent Rebmann Glacier and peer into the mysterious Ash Pit inside the volcanic crater. Though physically demanding due to the extreme altitude, spending a night at Crater Camp transforms this trek into a once-in-a-lifetime high-altitude adventure designed for experienced and determined climbers seeking something truly special.
