Arrival in Moshi
Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our driver will be waiting to welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi. Here you will have time to relax after your journey and meet your mountain guide for a briefing about the climb ahead. This session includes a gear check to ensure you are fully prepared with the right equipment.
The rest of the evening is free for you to unwind, explore the town at leisure, or simply rest at the hotel. Overnight accommodation is provided in a comfortable lodge on a bed and breakfast basis, giving you a good night’s sleep before your mountain adventure begins.

Mti Mkubwa Camp
Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, drive to Lemosho Gate (2,100 m) and complete park registration. Trek begins through the lush montane forest, home to blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and vibrant birdlife. The trail ascends gently through the canopy to Mti Mkubwa Camp, nestled in the forest. Enjoy dinner and rest for the first night on the mountain.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Today’s trek leaves the forest behind and enters the moorland zone, crossing heather fields and volcanic rocks. Hike along the Shira Ridge, enjoying expansive views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak. Descend slightly to reach Shira 2 Camp, a scenic plateau ideal for acclimatization.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
This is a critical acclimatization day. Ascend to Lava Tower (4,600 m), where you’ll pause for lunch and photos. After the “climb high, sleep low” principle, descend to Barranco Camp, located in the valley below the Barranco Wall. Spend the evening resting and enjoying the alpine desert surroundings.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Today’s trail begins with the Barranco Wall climb, a challenging but rewarding scramble. After conquering the wall, descend into the Karanga Valley, a scenic area with stunning mountain vistas. The short distance allows time to rest and hydrate before ascending to Barafu Camp the next day.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
A steady climb from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, your base for the midnight summit push. The landscape is cold and barren, typical of the alpine desert zone, with minimal vegetation and strong winds. Arrive in the afternoon, organize gear, enjoy an early dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak via Stella Point, then to Mweka Camp
Rise around midnight for your summit attempt. Ascend the steep trail to Stella Point (5,681 m) and continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa, arriving at sunrise. After taking in the spectacular views, descend carefully back to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down through moorland and forest to Mweka Camp. Celebrate your accomplishment over dinner and enjoy your final night on the mountain.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Transfer to Moshi
After breakfast, complete your descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Sign out with park authorities and receive your Kilimanjaro summit certificate. Meet your Go Kilimanjaro Treks driver for transfer to Moshi, where a hot shower, celebratory dinner, and comfortable rest await.
